About Us :

VRD, INC.

Our broad range of capabilities allow you to see Vehicle Research and Development as a single source for your testing needs. VRD, Inc. is a full service automotive testing laboratory providing powertrain testing, physical testing, and engineering services. The lab operates on a three-shift, seven-day schedule - and there are no premium charges for continuous operation. This operational commitment allows us to remain flexible to our customers by delivering quality in an expeditious and cost effective manner.

Our 12 acre site is situated on Michigan Highway 53 (Van Dyke) on the northern outskirts of the Village of Almont. The location, in southeastern Lapeer County, ideally positions us to serve the automotive industry.

Established in 1987, the firm has enjoyed continued growth. Starting with just one dynamometer and one environmental chamber, we now have ten dynamometer cells, three full size environmental chambers, and additional thermal chambers for automotive components in need of testing.

HIGH SECURITY AREAS

Recognizing that development testing is usually conducted on future product releases, VRD, Inc. provides dedicated high security areas. In this way, the proprietary designs and intellectual property rights of the customers are always protected. We find the need for confidentiality compulsory. A separate, dedicated 4,800 square foot building is available for storage of test samples before and after testing is conducted. This windowless building has only two entrances, a 12-foot overhead and an adjacent service door. Only the service door is accessible from the outside. Six-foot security fencing protects the perimeter of the testing site.
